Falcons Give Raheem Morris Another Job Title

Raheem Morris continues to show how well rounded of coach he is. Dan Quinn gave Morris his third hat to wear by naming him passing game coordinator to newly hired offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian.

*Raheem Morris is also Assistant head coach and wide receivers coach*

Sarkisian was hired as offensive coordinator, coming over from University of Alabama after San Francisco 49ers hired former offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan as their new head coach.

Falcons also appointed Doug Mallory as defensive backs coach. Mallory has been defensive assistant to Quinn for the last two years. Before then he was LSU DB coach 2005-07, co-defensive coordinator in 2008. In 2009-10 defensive coordinator in University of New Mexico and 2011-13 Indiana assistant head coach and co-defensive coordinator.

Many thought (myself included) Morris would be heading to the defensive coordinator position when Richard Smith was reassigned. However, secondary coach Marquand Manuel was given the position.

Manuel was involved in a situation with New York Giants defensive back Eli Apple.

Final Thoughts – Former passing game coordinator Jerome Henderson is expected to be leave. Most likely join Kyle Shanahan in San Francisco as co-defensive coordinator with Robert Saleh.
