Falcons vs Lions: 3 Things to watch for

The 2-0 Falcons are headed to Motown to take on Matthew Stafford and the 2-0 Detroit Lions. Vic Beasley is out with slightly torn hamstring and fans are in FULL panic mode.

Let’s be honest this Lions squad is not the push over they once were. An improved offensive line, Matthew Stafford playing much better, a defense led by Ezekiel Ansah. Falcons will have their hands full.

Here are 3 Things to watch for in tomorrow’s game.

1) Attack Lions linebackers

Lions linebackers Jarad Davis, Dwayne Washington will be out, expect Falcons to take full advantage of Lions weak cover linebackers using a lot of play action.

Expect Sarkisian to get Devonta Freeman, and Tevin Coleman involved in the running game early to open up passing lanes for Mohamed Sanu, Austin Hooper and Julio Jones.

If the running game can get going it’ll be a great day for the Falcons.

2) Keep Stafford in the pocket and finish the rushes.

Robinson’s struggles continued against the Giants and I fully expect the trend to continue. Even without NFL sack leader Vic Beasley.

Takk McKinley, Brooks Reed, Adrian Clayborn will have to pick up the slack because Stafford is a lot like Aaron Rodgers with his ability to extend plays. Falcons rushers will have to focus on contain and finishing their rushes so Marvin Jones and Golden Tate won’t get free in the secondary.

Matt Bosher must get hang time.

3) Special Teams could come into play in this game. Rookie returner Jamal Agnew had a great returnlast week against the Giants. His speed and quickness could come into play so punter Matt Bosher has to have a good day punting.

Hang time is a must.
