Falcons vs Lions Week 3 recap

From the beginning it was obvious Matt Ryan’s was off. Overthrew a couple of reciecers, stats weren’t up to par (24/35 294 yards 2 Touchdown 3 Interceptions) and was obviously in for a rough game. However, the dynamic duo of Devonta Freeman Tevin Coleman had something to combining for 156 yards rushing.

Offensive line was decent… Matt Ryan was off all game I contribute that to Wes Schweitzer and Tyler Sambrailo’s shaky play in pass protection. Ryan Schraeder’s absence is DEFINITELY being felt. PLEASE HURRY BACK RYAN.

Mohamed Sanu seemed to be headed to a pretty good game catching 3 passes with a TD. However Sanu dropped a pass that found its way into Lions Darius Slay hands. Which completely turned the momentum into the Lions FAVOR. Sanu is a good player but he cannot drop easy passes. That’s unacceptable….

Julio Jones caught 7 balls for 92 yards left in the forth with a back injury but according to FalconsKelsey Julio said he could have come back into the game.

Overall the Falcons showed why they are most versatile offenses in the league. When Matt Ryan is having an “off game” they can lean on Devonta Freeman Tevin Coleman to carry his team to victory.

Defense Breakdown

If you’re not excited about Takk McKinley I don’t know what the hell is wrong with you. Takk is showing why Thomas Dimitroff moved up to take him at 26 in the draft. He recorded his first sack of the season, applying consistent pressure all game long. He did great filling in for Vic Beasley.

I’m excited to see what both Vic and Takk Vic look like like together. The future is looking bright for the Falcons dline.

Brian Poole made the play of the game touching Golden Tate while he was on the ground lunging toward the end zone and that would have won the game.

Without that happening Falcons would be sitting at 2-1 tied with Carolina Tampa Bay.

In what I thought was uncatchable pass, Trufant was committed a defensive pass interference that put Lions on the one yard line. A BS holding penalty on what would have been a game winning interception for Robert Alford.

Trufant obviously had a rough game. Penalties can’t happen in those situations if the Falcons plan to get back to the Super Bowl.

Besides the late game penalties Falcons defense held Matthew Stafford and Lions offense in check. It’s a long season you need a luck every once in a while… Good team win!!
