Mel Kiper Says DT Taven Bryan is Boom or Bust

Are you absolutely sure Falcons will select a defensive tackle at 26? After hearing Thomas Dimitroff’s latest statement I’m not sure.

He stated that there are six to eight prospects at defensive tackle in the first two rounds. Which tells me that they may before selecting the best available player and selecting a tackle at #58

However, Draft Guru Mel Kiper seems to think Falcons are interested in Florida DT Taven Bryan but he’s not really sold on him. Here’s what he had to say.

Taven Bryan is the kid out of Florida who has a little boom or bust to him. . . He could be great. He was disruptive, but he’s got to locate the ball a little bit better. He gets in the backfield and all of sudden he’s not making the play, where you see guys like [Da’Ron]

“If you want to roll the dice for a grand slam, you take Taven Bryan from Florida. He can be a three technique.”

Not very positive huh?

With that said…. Here’s my thoughts on the matter.

Falcons will obviously need to replace Dontari Poe. So start by drafting either Maurice Hurst, Taven Bryan or even BJ Hall in the later rounds. Finish by bringing in veteran run defender Ahtyba Rubin to add experience and depth.

Besides Grady Jarrett has proven to be a Superstar in the making. Just continue to provide players that compliment his talents and the rest will follow.

What are your thoughts Falcons Fam? Do yo think Taven Bryan will be a boom or bust?
