PFF: Alex Mack Week 1 Analysis

After three long, frustrating, off-seasons as an Atlanta Falcons Fan. I must say! I know you’re thinking the same…  Is this the GOTDAMN year?

Will Thomas Dimitroff’s off-season acquisitions FINALLY pay off? The 5 year 32 million given to Mohamed Sanu. 5 year 45 million given to all pro center Alex Mack.

Was it a good decision?

Pro Football Focus seems to think Alex Mack signing will had decent impact on Falcons Offense… check out what they have to say here

Mack was well on his way to one of his best seasons back in 2014 before tearing his ACL and missing the rest of the year. Kyle Shanahan didn’t forget, and now Mack is once again in a scheme that suits him perfectly in Atlanta. The Falcons run game never quite got off the ground against the Bucs, but don’t blame the center; Mack was downgraded only five times all day in 65 snaps.

Jake Matthews presnap penalties, Chris Chester personal foul and nonexistent run game added feul to my already heated fire.  I’m not ready to cast judgment after one week.

I will say this! I was impressed with Mack’s pass protection against pro bowl DT Gerald McCoy. As the season goes on, we will see how much of an impact he will have on the Falcons running game.
