That Money! Money! Yeah! Yeah!
Alright Falcons Fam you can finally relax. Ian Rapoport is reporting Falcons running back Devonta Freeman has agreed to a five year extension with the Atlanta Falcons.
Falcons will pay Freeman more than half of his salary in the first three years.
The front loaded contract will allow the Falcons to potentially sign his running mate Tevin Coleman who is under contract til 2018
Final Thoughts – I wanted to know what Falcons Fans thoughts are on Devonta Freeman’s deal?
So of course I took a poll
Falcons chose to exercise left tackle Jake Matthews fifth year option. According to Kelsey Conway Matthews will be with the Atlanta Falcons through 2018 season.
Jake had a rough second half of the SuperBowl and some may think it’s a bit premature to exercise this right. What are your thoughts Falcons Fam? Are you excited to have Big Jake back?
Falcons have agreed to terms with with one of the NFL best corners Desmond Trufant. The Atlanta Falcons and the 2015 Pro Bowl corner agreed on a five year 69 million 42 guaranteed extension on Saturday April 8th via Jordan Schultz of the Huffington Post.
Trufant suffered a pectoral injury in November 2016 causing him to miss the Falcons Superbowl run. Trufant contract puts him in elite company. Redskins Josh Norman 5 year 70 million 50 guaranteed. Patrick Peterson 5 year 70 million 48 guaranteed.
Teammate Robert Alford signed a 4 year 38 million 21 guaranteed in December.
Trufant is known for having one side of the field locked down. Quarterbacks don’t often throw his way. With him back in action Falcons have one of the most intriguing talented secondaries in the league. Robert Alford had an impressive Superbowl moment picking off Tom Brady that resulted in a touchdown. Jalen Collins has made tremendous strides from his rookie season. Keanu Neal who is a intimidating presence in the middle of the Falcons defense.
With Trufant back in action for years to come… They might just have the best secondary in the NFL.

Here you are Falcons Fam! Hugh Thornton’s contract breakdowns. It isn’t a huge deal so Falcons don’t have to worry about having cap issues.
What are your thoughts?
After losing Patrick DiMarco to the Buffalo Bills, Atlanta Falcons finally addressed the fullback position. They signed former Seahawks fullback Derrick Coleman Soma Vainuku and Colts guard Hugh Thornton.
Vainuku is an undrafted free agent out of USC, he signed with the Houston Texans in 2016. Derrick Coleman (legally deaf) last played with the Seattle Seahawks in 2015
Both guys will battle for the vacant roster spot.
As for Hugh Thornton, looks as though falcons are not waiting for Chris Chester to decide whether or not he will return or retiring.
Thornton, former third round pick is expected to compete with Wes Schweitzer and Ben Garland for the starting right guard position.
Thornton had an extremely difficult childhood. He was forced to deal with the murder of his mother and sister, as well as an abusive father. However, Big Hugh didn’t let that stop him, becoming a pretty good prospect coming out of Illinois.

MO MONEY! MO MONEY! MO MONEY!
Falcons Right Tackle Ryan Schraeder signed an extension deal in 2016 that had him making 6M roster bonus. Instead that 6M has been converted into a signing bonus.
The move leaves The team with 4.8M in future cap space. Falcons are allegedly interested in defensive tackle Dontari Poe, but Poe made a trip to meet the Colts. However, Poe asking price maybe a little more than what Falcons are willing to pay.
Dan Quinn has a great track record developing young defensive linemen. Adrian Clayborn, Courtney Upshaw, Brooks Reed is playing much better. Rashede Hageman is showing was he’s capable of doing.
In my opinion there’s no reason to give Dontari Poe 40 million plus, unless you feel he can make your defense ELITE.
Besides there are good DTs still available.
What are your thoughts FalconsFam?
Should the Falcons pass on Dontari Poe?
