Gil Brandt 2017 NFL Stat Leaders Predictions

Alright Falcons Fam Gil Brandt is here with a list of 2017 NFL Stat predictions. He mentions the reigning NFL MVP Matt Ryan.

Check out Brandt’s thoughts on Matty Ice stats.

Kyle Shanahan, is now in San Francisco. But I don’t see Ryan regressing in his first season under Shanahan’s replacement, Steve Sarkisian. First, while some might wonder about Ryan’s ability to adjust to Sarkisian, I think Sarkisian will instead adjust to what the Falcons were doing last season. Second, Ryan is a smart guy who will not be thrown off by either the change in play-callers

Was Matt Ryan Snubbed On NFL Network Top 100 List?

Falcons Fam here we go AGAIN! The continuous disrespect of Matt Ryan. First,  let me make it crystal clear….  I am not surprised.

AT ALL!!!

Losing the Superbowl in the manner they did only adds to the lack of respect for our franchise.

HOWEVER!!!!

Matt Ryan was the 2016 NFL MVP!!!!

That should be respected. I cannot understand the rational behind this.

It’s said that the rankings are based on last year’s performance. Yet Ryan was ranked number 10 in the NFL Top 100 BEHIND!!!! Packers QB Aaron Rodgers.

This is not a lifetime achievement award. Based on last year’s performance and numbers, Matt Ryan was a much better quarterback in yards, completion percentage, Quarterback Ratings both had the same amount of interceptions thrown.

You can make the argument Tom Brady had an equally impressive regular season. 3,554 yards 28 TDs 2 INTs

SO JUST STOP THE NONSENSE – Matt Ryan was a QB better than Aaron Rodgers in 2016 That’s the TRUTH!

Don’t take my word for it. Former NFL receiver Reggie Wayne believes Matt Ryan was snubbed.

Check out Wayne’s thoughts on the matter – HERE

When you’re done let me know your thoughts on Matt Ryan being ranked 10 on the list by leaving a comment on Twitter.

Dwight Freeney And Falcons Have Mutual Interest In Him Returning

Freeney said he an the Freeney and the Falcons coaches have been in contact on his possible return to the team.

I’ve already been talking to the coaches and going back and forth here and there with the draft picks and free agents,” Freeney said, per Sporting News. “That line of communication is still very open. They say they’re still very interested.

Falcons are expected to receive 4.3 million in cap credit Friday, which should go towards re-signing Freeney. Expect Freeney to have the same role as last year (mentor/situational pass rusher).

Falcons Devonta Freeman Lands No. 41 On NFL Top 100

Falcons shifty running back Devonta Freeman cracked the NFL Network Top 100 list for the second year, coming in at 41. Ahead of Jay Ajayi (69) LeGarrette Blount (80) and Adrian Peterson (98).

Freeman was a key part in Falcons Super offense rushing for 1,079 yards 54 receptions 13 TDs. If you’re not a stat guy, listen to the players who play against him such as Panthers DT Kawan Short and Jacksonville Jaguars DT Calais Campbell.

Thoughts On Hugh Thornton’s Sudden Retirement

Apparently guard Hugh Thornton’s ankle injury led to his retirement. Thornton was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the third round in 2013 out of Illinois.

He started 32 of 37 games, and when he became available in the off-season. Falcons signed him to a one year deal 690,000 to compete for the right guard position that was vacated by 11 year veteran Chris Chester.

Wes Schweitzer, Ben Garland, and rookie Sean Harlow (everyone’s favorite) are expected to compete for the starting job.

Final Thoughts – I was obviously taken off guard by Thornton’s sudden retirement. Although I don’t know the severity of his injury. I’m going to say his heart wasn’t into the game or he felt like he couldn’t play at a decent level without looking like a damn scrub. That I understand….

But hey! That’s my opinion…..

Let me know what you think!

Bucky Brooks Explains Why The Matt Ryan has Best Supporting Cast

One of my personal favorites former player and NFL analyst Bucky Brooks answers why the Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan has the NFL best supporting cast. Pay no attention to Gregg Rosenthal he’s obviously being a homer.
